Born on 23rd February 1977 in Tartu, Kristina Šmigun-Vähi is a former cross-country skier and the first Estonian woman to earned a medal for the country (in 2006). She was initially coached by her father who was also a Nordic skier at his times.
Two gold medals at the Winter Olympics of 2006 and a silver medal at the Winter Olympics of 2010
A total of six medals (one gold, three silver and two bronze) that she earned at the World Championships held in 1999 and 2003
Two gold and four silver medals at the Junior World Championships held in 1995, 1996 and 1997
